Cycle the Lakes
The unique scenery of the Lake district can-not be fully appreciated from the seat of a car.  You need get out in the open, and walk.

Or,  trending, especially in the northern fells area of the Lake District,
is to do it by bicycle.

The Undeveloped picturesque Northern Fells area of the Lake District National Park is blessed with a network of small quiet roads, which are virtually traffic free, and lend them selves perfectly for the use of  the Cyclist.

This is the road near the small local village of Berrier, with Carrock fell as the back-drop.

Only a few miles from this point is the Historic village of Greystoke, which is a popular stop-off-point for cyclists doing the "Coast to Coast".

And, if you are into off-road mountain biking, the Northern Fells Open Common land is just for you.

This is Dash Falls near the village of Orthwaite. The track leads up to the back of Skiddaw,  and Skiddaw House, where you can join the "Cumbrian way" to either Keswick, or the head of Swineside valley above the village of Mosedale.

Swineside Valley has a tarmac road to where it joins the "Cumbrian Way" at it's head.
Ashness Bridge, above Borrowdale and Derwent Water, near Keswick.

Skiddaw dominates the distant back-drop.

The shore of Ullswater, near Glenridding.
The local roads, some of them unfenced, are virtually traffic free.
